Fashion has no mercy

Despite the fact that it is so obviously a trend, and one that I will probably look back on and wonder “WTF was I thinking??”, I bought a pair of skinny jeans the other day. At the advice of the salesgirl, I threw them into the washer and dryer once I got home to get any sort of shrinkage out of the way and tried them on again today to let them stretch out and mold with my body before bringing them back for alterations.

As it would turn out, my drainpipes shrank a tad (just a tad, but enough to cause alarm) too much than I bargained for. I realize that jeans tend to fit smaller after coming out fresh from a wash, but usually it’s still manageable and it’s not like they were skintight to begin with. However, after much Sturm und Drang, I “successfully” encased my lower half in the tight, dark denim and proceeded to walk/waddle and bend/stretch around (At home! I didn’t need to be any more embarrassed.). To my relief, the jeans did loosen up some, so I may still look like a fool, but maybe, hopefully, now less of one. :P

In another war story, my feet are a bit busted from my new shoes. Although for once, it is not because of blisters. At least, not directly. You see, I did get blisters, but because I wanted to keep wearing those lovely shoes, I decided to put on band-aids to protect them from further harm. I could’ve, and probably should’ve, used blister pads. Anyway, this (cheaper) method worked wonderfully for a couple days, and of course I thought I was ever so clever.

Until I forgot to change the band-aids. Now, I was just going out to Superstore to pick up a couple things for my mom, but that short trip basically did me in. The band-aids lost its stickiness and one of the ends began to gather, which caused some friction as my feet rubbed against my shoes as I walked, taking some skin. Yee-ouch. :( And me, being stubborn and so enamoured with my shoes, decided to just apply another band-aid to the new wounds. I chose tiny band-aids as they were tiny injuries, but, as I learned, tiny band-aids do not hold up well and are not meant to be rubbed against because they almost immediately started bunching up, causing even more pain. Egads! Finally, I decided to just not wear those lovely shoes for the time being and let my stupid feet heal.

But I swear, I’m gonna look so hot in those skinny jeans and flats when I’m no longer waddling or hobbling in them. ;)
