Viking it and liking it

Over the long weekend while lunching at Cactus Club, I discovered Viking: The Ultimate Obstacle Course—an awesome Japanese game show featuring “grueling obstacle courses designed to test the outer limits of human strength, speed, agility, and endurance”. At first I thought it was like MXC, but it is, in fact, much more hardcore. And not just because there aren’t any goofy VO’s or sound effects. These aren’t ordinary people competing on the show; they’re all-around athletes. And the list of obstacles the contestants must face is mind-, body-, and spirit-boggling. Only one person has ever made it to the fourth and final stage, but no one has ever completed it. Insane! But so delightfully entertaining.

Forget Howie Mandel and his 26 briefcases. When it comes to game show entertainment, the Japanese are the real deal! (Harhar. Seriously though, you gotta check it out.)
