The calm before the storm

Looks like I get another week to myself before things start to get crazy again. I’m going to make sure I really savour this break. This will involve nothing particularly fancy; just healthy amounts of relaxation and activity that I won’t otherwise get to enjoy when I officially tackle the next few months. I just wish I could free up my weekends already, but as eager as I am, the timing is still not quite right. And in the end, I need to go by timing, not my id.

Broken, shattered, alive

I’m recovering from a mild cold, which has left me more with a tickly throat and a pair of lungs hanging on for dear life than a stuffy, runny nose and a shortage of Kleenex. It sucks.

I busted my fingers earlier this week playing dodgeball and now they’re grossly ashen and bruised and I am typing with mostly my right hand. That sucks, too.

With my fingers fucked, I won’t be able to polish my Guitar Hero skillz this weekend either. That sucks most.

Spending my days spending

The danger of not being chained to my desk and my work is that I end up bored. And when I’m bored (and there’s nothing to watch on TV), I wander out into the streets and find myself in shops, combing the racks for anything to add to my wardrobe and excitement. In the last two days, I have come home with a dress, a sports bra, two shirts, and five pairs of coloured tights. I feel a bit guilty about buying so much, but when I look at my purchases, the giddy just washes away the guilt.

I can’t wait to get back to work though. I need to save up for a Macbook Air.

Happy new year

Oh happy indeed. So far. I spent the past week hard at work and managed to pull off something I’m quite proud of and excited about. I squeaked by and won a Scrabulous game even though my opponent scored big points after putting down all his tiles in one go. And I kicked serious ass in Rock Band, rocking 100% solos multiple times and ripping through 500+ consecutive notes in one song.

I am pleased as effin’ punch.

Despite starting the year off with such a bang, the next couple of weeks will be a bit quiet for me. It’s a quiet that I will no doubt enjoy as working 6 days a week the past few months has been kinda exhausting. But, funnily enough, I’d much prefer to continue on this tiring path. Mostly because I’d hate to slow down when things are going well. It’s a good thing I have a couple projects lined up after this small break. Otherwise, I probably would be in shittier spirits.

Though I know I’ll always have Teh Boyfriend and my friends to cheer me up.

And Guitar Hero / Rock Band. :D

Favourites of 2007

In no particular order. Well, except when it comes to Michael Cera. He is totally #1.
